4 Seniors Win Volleyball Octathlon; 16 Wreckers Power Through Workout Of The Week

Three seniors — Diego Alanis, Charlie Leonard, Sterling Price and Jack Scott — won the double-elimination beach volleyball Octathlon of Champions this afternoon at Compo Beach.

They defeated Bobby Jacowleff, Andrew Puchala and Connor Weiler in a 2-game finals that went into overtime in both matches.

Jack Scott has opened up a 13-point lead (75 points to 62) over 2nd-place Foster Goldberg. Diego Alanis is 3rd (49), followed by Sterling Price (47) and Sebo Hood (46). Only 1 Octo event remains: a scavenger hunt, set for August.

After beach volleyball, 15 players — joined by sophomore Max Hammer — set off on the 1st Workout of the Week. A grueling, 6-lap run from jetty to jetty — with body squats, push-ups and wall jumps thrown in — it showed the Wreckers are willing to work as hard on conditioning as they do on soccer.

Jack Scott set a blistering 2:25 pace in the 6th and final run. Also looking strong were Andrew Puchala, Yousef Shahin, Diego Alanis, Connor Weiler and Noah Schwaeber.
