Wreckers Donate Selves To ABC House Auction; Train With Winning U-10 Team

Every year, the Staples boys soccer team offers itself as a prize for the A Better Chance of Westport (ABC House) auction.

This year, they were “won” by the parents of a Westport Soccer Association team.  This afternoon 8 Wreckers and 16 WSA U-9 and U-10 players — future Staples stars — got together for a kick-around session at Loeffler Field.

It’s hard to tell who had a better time:  the younger kids, or the older ones.

At the end, the Staples players — Jason Bennett, Nick Cion, Dylan Evans, Mikey Fitzgerald, Sean Gallagher, Jack “Chief” Hennessy, Jake Krosse and Jake Malowitz — presented their new friends with retro Staples jerseys, and souvenir mini-balls.

The WSA players included Will Birch, Kenny Brill, Richard Costello, Ryan Fincher, Chester Glenn, Zach Howard, Noah Lomnitz, Jacob Maged, Alex Piccolino, Chris Sherk, Daniel Thompson, Ian Weiller, Christopher Andrews, Matthew Engler, Tyler Wright and Steven Frost.

The Wreckers look forward to donating their services next year to the ABC House auction — and to having another great day with Westport’s rising generation of players.
