5 Wreckers Make Hour All-Area Team
Jack Scott, Charlie Leonard and Andrew Puchala have been named to the 14-player Norwalk Hour All-Area first team. Yousef Shahin and Diego Alanis were among the 12 Honorable Mention selections.
The Hour described Scott as “a leader for the Wreckers.” It cited his game-winning goal in the 1-0 win state tournament win over Newtown; his goal and assist against Norwalk (2-0) during the regular season, and his MVP “Block S” award.
Scott also was named to the Hearst Papers’ “Super 15 Boys Soccer All-Star team.” Click here for that story.
Leonard “brought a great deal of pressure up top,” the Hour said, mentioning his 2 goals in the 3-2 victory at Darien. “He could be utilized all over the field at every position, and was a key cog in the success of the Wreckers.”
Puchala “came up with several key goals and assists,” the paper noted. He was “a presence in the back but could also score,” as shown by his game-winning strikes against Wilton, Central and Brien McMahon.
