Staples Soccer Sponsors College Night May 19

Because high school soccer players — and their parents — have plenty of questions about college soccer, the Staples boys soccer program is sponsoring its 1st-ever College Night. It’s set for Tuesday, May 19 (7:30 p.m., Staples library).

Geoff Wheeler — head coach at Wesleyan University, where Wrecker alums have starred for several decades — will be the featured speaker. He’ll answer questions like:

— What’s the difference between Division I, II and III?

— How can I get noticed by coaches?

— How many ID and summer camps should I go to?

— How do I find the right school for me?

— What are my chances for a scholarship?

— Do I have a chance to play if I’m not on an academy team?

In 16 years at Wesleyan University, Wheeler has turned the Cardinals into a regional and national power. He previously coached at Dartmouth College, where he was a 4-year letterman and 2-time Ivy League champion. Geoff is a USSF “A” license coach.

Geoff will talk about all those college questions above – and more – and answer questions. All high school boys soccer players and their parents — and anyone else interested — is invited. Please email dwoog@optonline.net, for a sense of how many to expect.
