Staples Soccer Tryouts Begin Thursday!

Tryouts for all boys hoping to play Staples High School soccer begin this Thursday (August 23). All candidates in all grades must have pre-registered online (http://staplesathletics.assn.la) and must have a current physical form cleared by the nurse. No one can try out without having done this. All candidates must wear shin guards, and bring a ball and water.

All seniors, juniors and sophomores should report to the Staples track at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 23. The coaches will meet the candidates, and all players will be timed in a 2-mile run. Then everyone heads to Wakeman for on-field tryouts that end at 10 a.m. A 2nd session will be held that day, from 3-5 p.m.

On Friday, August 24 there are double sessions: 8-10 a.m., and 3-5 p.m., at Wakeman. The same schedule will be followed on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, August 25, 26 and 27 (8-10 a.m., 3-5 p.m.), for as long as the coaches need to assess all candidates.

All freshmen should report to Wakeman B (turf field) from 12-2 p.m. on Thursday, August 23. Tryouts continue Friday, August 24 through Monday, August 27 (12-2 p.m., Wakeman B), or for as long as coach Chris O’Dell needs to determine his squad.
