0Anthony Salgado’s Challenge
Last fall, Anthony Salgado was Staples soccer’s live tweeter.
He had a great time, and our many followers enjoyed his unique style.
Away from the field though, life was very serious.
At the end of Anthony’s junior year, his father was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
“Watching my father battle the disease, and seeing his determination every day, made me want to do something to help other people,” Anthony says.
He found the perfect vehicle in CT Challenge.
That’s the annual bike ride that raises money for cancer survivor programs. The programs are part of Mission, the Southport-based center offering workout space, personal trainers, nutrition help and much more to people diagnosed with the disease, and those in remission or who have successfully beaten it. Some of the programs involve summer camp for children, college for teenagers, and confidence-building adventure trips for young adults
CT Challenge’s routes range from 10 to 100 miles. They’re for all cycling skills; they start and end in Westport. The event is Saturday, July 27.
Anthony has formed a team to participate. He hopes the Staples soccer community will help — by joining the team, and/or donating funds.
His goal is $1,000. Click here to help.
