COVID Gobbles Up 2020 Turkey Bowl

The coronavirus has claimed another victim.

The Turkey Bowl — a decades-long Thanksgiving morning tradition — will not be played this year.

As COVID cases rise both nationally and locally, Westport’s Parks & Recreation Department has pulled permits for events like the alumni game.

Everyone loves the Turkey Bowl. But everyone also knows that bringing together dozens of players — many of them just returning from college towns and cities around the US — is both counterproductive and dangerous.

Staples soccer looks forward to welcoming everyone back to the Turkey Bowl in 2021.

In the meantime — because the event is a fundraiser for the Loeffler Scholarship, and the need for funds does not take a year off — consider making a contribution by mail. Checks made payable to “Loeffler Scholarship” can be sent to Dave Wilson, 28  Craw Avenue, Rowayton, CT 06853. Questions? Email dwilson@ucsfi.com. And if your company has a matching grant program, please let Dave know.
