0Wreckers Train On The Tidal Flats
For the 3rd time in 4 years, the Staples boys soccer team spent Labor Day on the Old Mill tidal flats.
The unique training on the hard sand encourages problem-solving, involves a different set of muscles, and prepares the team to play on any surface imaginable.
A crowd of friends, relatives and curious onlookers watched Staples go through their paces. The players, coaches and young kids then moved to the Compo Cove home of Pete Romano and Robin Tauck, where the couple provided a festive cookout with great food, a relaxing atmosphere, and a spectacular view.
“This is one of those special events that means so much,” head coach Dan Woog. “It’s nice for the players to know that people like Pete and Robin are behind them — and we always like doing something different. We hope everyone at Old Mill enjoyed the day as much as we did.”
The Wreckers missed the tidal flats training last Labor Day for a good reason: low tide was too early (7 a.m.) and too late (7 p.m.).
