Haran Eiger ’20 Leads England To Watermelon Cup Crown

“Football’s coming home.”

England — the nation — may be waiting for its first World Cup title since 1966.

But England — the Staples soccer-and-friends team — cruised to the Watermelon Cup championship tonight, at Wakeman Field.

Haran Eiger ’20 earned “Mr. Watermelon Cup” honors. His header was the difference in his side’s 1-0 semifinal victory. Eiger then scored 2 brilliant goals, and added an assist in the finals, a 4-1 win over Morocco. Scott Coleman notched the other 2 tallies.

Congratulations to the worthy victors. As for the country: They’re still waiting.

The winners! From left: Sam Willis, James Corridon, Ryan Sunjka, Sam Rossoni, Enzo Valadares, Campbell Gerrard, Ben Douglas, Scott Coleman, Haran Eiger, Jack Douglas, Steven Frost.
