New Equipment Shed Makes Wakeman Life Easier

When Staples soccer was forced to abandon Loeffler Field 3 years ago, due to deteriorating field conditions, they lost several things.

The allure and history of the only grass field in the FCIAC. A beautiful vantage point to watch matches: the perfect height, with a backdrop of magnificent trees.

And a place to store equipment.

For years, coaches and players have hauled balls, bibs, cones and assorted paraphernalia from their cars to the Wakeman turf (or the grass fields nearby), then back again.

No more.

Thanks to the Staples Boys Soccer Foundation, a new equipment shed has been installed, between the turf field and the softball diamond. The girls program will share half the cost (and use half the space).

SBSF board members Michael Cammeyer and Jason Epstein led the project.

It’s a small upgrade, in the grand scheme of things. But it will make training much easier, for the boys and girls players and their coaches.

And it’s one more example of how the Staples Boys Soccer Foundation and girls booster club work behind the scenes, for the good of the game.
