State Champs Receive Rings — And Add “2025” To Shed

The state champion Staples boys soccer team had a triple ceremony Sunday.

Every player — and coaches Liam Witham and Billy Babayo — received handsome rings, in a ceremony at Loeffler Field.

The team, parents and friends then headed across the grass, where the newly painted “2025” year was unveiled on the shed. The date marks the 13th state title, and 28th FCIAC crown, for the venerable program.

The festivities continued, with a party at the home of quad-captain Drew Hill.
