State Tournament Delayed
With many upstate schools not open at all this past week — and some projected to remain closed on Monday, due to power outages following the pre-Halloween snowstorm — the CIAC has pushed back its fall tournament calendars.
Maintaining the original schedule, the statewide organization said, “would require that many student-athletes would enter tournament competition after numerous days without practice or game play.”
The boys soccer tournament had been set to begin on Tuesday, November 8. The new 1st date is Friday, November 11.
Second round, quarterfinal and semifinal games continue the following week. The finals are set for the Friday or Saturday after Thanksgiving — the latest date ever.
Pairings will be announced Wednesday, November 9.
