Max Hoberman, Walker Marsh, 3 Others Help Wreckers Win FCIAC Indoor Track Title

Max Hoberman, Walker Marsh, Kyle Hoberman, David Hoffman and Ethan Bradeen all contributed points, as the Staples indoor track team won the FCIAC championship for the 1st time in 6 years yesterday.

The Wreckers toppled Danbury — 5-time defending champions — by a substantial margin: 107-70, at Hillhouse High School.

Max and Walker comprised half of the 1st-place 4×400 relay team. The quartet — including Dean Hefnawy and Jon Heil — blazed to a 3:30.34 finish.

Kyle Hoberman — who with his twin brother Max is a team quad-captain — placed 2nd in the 4×800 relay (8:27.67).

Two soccer players finished 3rd: Max Hoberman (long jump, 20-5 1/2) and David Hoffman (55 m, 6.82).

Hoffman and Max Hoberman were part of the 4th-place 4×240 relay (1:36.70), while Marsh was 5th in the 600 (1:25.76). Bradeen’s high jump of 5-8 was also good for 5th place.

Last week, the Wreckers won the divisional championship, in the Staples fieldhouse.

Up next: the state class LL championship (Thursday, February 9, Hillhouse).
