Aidan Wisher Paces Wreckers In 5K Run

Ten Staples soccer players participated in this morning’s Stratton Faxon 5K in Fairfield — and raised money for the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp.

Junior Aidan Wisher led all Wreckers with a time of 19:51. He also finished 2nd in fundraising ($100). His time was best for the entire Hole in the Wall Gang Camp group, which included many non-Staples players.

Senior Denzel Robinson was just 2 seconds off the Wrecker pace, at 19:53.

The race drew nearly 2,000 competitors. Ben Foster — who played 2 years of Staples soccer, but will run cross country this fall as a junior — finished 3rd in the entire field. He blazed to a 16:54 finish.

Other finishers for Staples’ Hole in the Wall Gang Camp team included Grant Sirlin (21:35), Noah Schwaeber (22:52), Sebastian Wick (24:12), Luka Autard (25:49), and Kenny Brill and Jerrett Rende (27:44)

Josh Berman and Steven Rowland registered but could not compete, due to an ankle injury and appendix operation, respectively. Both were at the finish line, cheering on their teammates.

Wick was the leading fundraiser for the Wreckers ($120). Schwaeber organized the event.

Other members of the Staples soccer family who raced were parents Terry Rende, Wayne Schwaeber, Cliff Sirlin and Nicky Wisher, and Frankie Rende ’09.
