Coaches Capture Quiz Night Prize

The Staples soccer program believes it has the best coaching staff in the state. It’s definitely got the smartest.

A table anchored by varsity assistant Kurt Dasbach and reserves coach Nicky Hoberman — plus Dave Sharpe ’07, who serves as the girls team’s goalkeeper coach, Kurt’s wife Lucy and a couple of others — took 1st place at last year’s 10th annual Quiz Night.

It was the biggest and best such event ever. Questions ranged from the number of trees on earth (approximately 3 trillion) and the 6 official languages of the UN (Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish, Arabic) to the referee’s call when a player tosses a chicken on the field (fowl throw).

There were dozens of raffle prizes; some amazing silent auction items like a tour of Google’s New York headquarters (with lunch) and tickets to Blue Man Group, plus 3 huge live auction offers.

Armelle Daniels and Patti Brill masterminded Quiz Night, with help from Lyn Hogan and an amazing array of volunteers. Thanks to all who participated — and congratulations to the brilliant winners!

One Quiz Night question: What did the 7 Dwarfs do for a job? They were miners, of course.
