Gudis’ Glastonbury Goal Galvanizes SportsCenter

It happened over a year ago, but Greg Gudis’s tough-angle strike against Glastonbury has made it to YouTube fame.

As part of its new user-generated content campaign, YouTube is running an AT&T-sponsored/ESPN SportsCenter “My Highlight” feature.  All videos are sent in by viewers.

This morning, Gudis’s 2009 goal — a great effort from the far corner that clanked in off the far post, giving Staples a 1-0 lead in the state semifinals — was My Highlights’ #2 play.

Charlie Stoebe ’04 works at NBC Sports.  “It felt nice bragging to my co-workers that my high school was just on all the TVs around the office,” he says.

PS:  Gudis’s goal, 4 minutes before halftime, was only the 1st in a wild match.  By intermission it was 2-1 Staples; the Wreckers went up 3-1 in the 2nd half, then held on for a 3-2 win.
