0Help Africa At WSA World Cup Event
On June 19 a Westport soccer family — the Diorio-Hogans — will travel to the World Cup.
In South Africa they’ll visit a remote village, Welverdiend. They’re part of Pack for a Purpose, an organization that collects simple but necessary items to help children through sports, education and health care. Welverdiend needs school supplies, sports clothes and soccer balls. The Diorio-Hogan family has generously agreed to deliver all items collected by the WSA at the broadcast of the U.S. v. England World Cup game on Saturday, June 12.
You can help the children of Welverviend by bringing the following items on June 12 (Staples High School auditorium, 1:30 p.m.). If you’re not going to the game, you can drop the items off at their house:
- Soccer balls (deflated, with a needle attached)
- T-shirts, all sizes
- Athletic socks, all sizes
- Pens, pencils
- A4 faint-lined soft-covered writing notebooks
- Solar calculators
- Small cash donations to purchase mosquito netting
Thanks for your help — and thanks to the Dorio-Hogan family!
