Hill Is Stenciled; Loeffler Field Ready For Opener

For the 3rd year in a row, Patrick Beusse and his father Tom spent nearly 2 hours stenciling “Staples” into the base of The Hill.

Loeffler Field is now ready for the Wreckers’ home opener (Tuesday, September 9, 4 pm vs. St. Joseph).  Westport’s Parks and Recreation Department has done a great job getting the showcase pitch in excellent shape, particularly after sandbags holding down the baseball outfield fence during the spring and summer scarred the surface.

“An opposing coach once told me that our field is worth a goal a game to us,” head coach Dan Woog said. “He said that between the grass surface, the big crowd on The Hill and the paint that says ‘Staples,’ other teams get a bit intimidated coming here.”

Thanks, Patrick and Tom, for volunteering your time to keep the tradition alive.
