Laskin, Caniato, Hellman Honored At Awards Ceremony
Two Staples soccer players were honored at this week’s school-wide awards ceremony.
Soon-to-graduate co-captain Alex Laskin received an Excellence in Civics award. He was a leader in, among other areas, the award-winning We the People AP Government class. He also served as chair of the Westport Youth Commission this year. Laskin will continue his involvement at Cornell University.
Junior varsity co-captain Luca Caniato earned one of two character awards for the Class of 2025. The honor was given for social and emotional awareness; kindness with sincerity; high principles; learning always, and for enriching and bringing joy to the classroom.
And freshman co-captain Gabriel Hellmann received the PTA Reflections regional award, for his 2nd place photography contest entry.
