Opening Day Postponed

Chalk up one more victim of Hurricane Irene:  opening day of Staples’ 2011 FCIAC soccer season.

Ridgefield — set for the home opener on September 14 — could not begin training until after Labor Day, due to storm damage and school delays.  The match has been rescheduled for Wednesday, September 28 at 3 p.m.  (due to the Rosh Hashanah holiday that begins at sundown).

Opening day is now Friday, September 16 — on the road, at St. Joseph (4 p.m.).  The Wreckers will try to schedule another scrimmage for next week.

In addition, the start time for this Thursday’s home scrimmage with Bunnell on September 8th has been pushed back to 5 p.m., due to transportation issues at Bunnell.  If Loeffler Field is unplayable, the match may be moved to the Wakeman turf.
