Pre-Season Camp Registration Now Open
Staples boys soccer’s pre-season program will have a new look this summer.
Head coach Russell Oost-Lievense says:
“This year, we will introduce a new program to our preseason model that the coaching staff is very excited about. After seeing the amazing job Barry Beattie has done establishing the Staples girls program into an FCIAC and state powerhouse, we felt bringing this mentality was a perfect fit for where we expect to be each year.
“I would like to personally thank STA for their unbelievable commitment to our program for 19 years. They have been an incredible asset to our program, and we cannot thank them enough.”
Barry says: “First Touch Conditioning is proud to partner with Staples boys soccer for this year’s preseason camp. The boys program at Staples is full of championship history, and after a successful season last year we aim to kick-start the season on a high. The camp will consist of areas to prepare players for a vigorous tryout the following week. We will include technical, tactical, physical and mental aspects to the camp, in order to set these boys up for success.”
Barry’s staff includes Jack Abelson, former Harvard University women’s soccer assistant and University of Bridgeport assistant (NCAA Division II national champs, 2018), and Tom Newell, former Staples girls assistant (FCIAC & state champs, 2021), now the Bethel High School girls head coach.
The camp for returning players runs August 18-21. The camp for rising freshmen is August 15-17. There are 2 sessions a day, from 9-11 a.m. and 5-7 p.m., at Wakeman Fields. Click here to register.
