0Sean Gallagher’s Relay Team Takes 3rd In New England
Sean Gallagher’s 52.7 leg helped Staples’ 4×400 relay team to a 3rd place finish at yesterday’s New England Indoor Track and Field Championships, held at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
The bronze medal squad also included John Heil (52.9), Jack Roche (52.1) and Raphael Ray (49.8).
The Wreckers’ combined time of 3:27.70 trailed only Andover (MA) High (3:22.71) and Mansfield (MA) High (3:24.21). Prospects look bright for next year, as the entire Staples relay returns. Heil is only a sophomore; the other 3 are juniors.
This is Gallagher’s 2nd regional honor this year. Last fall he was a key defender on the state championship soccer squad that ended the season ranked #1 in New England.
The final indoor track meet of the season next week is the biggest. Gallagher and his teammates head to New York City for the national championship.
