Seniors Storm Back In Beach Volleyball Octathlon

Down 2 games to 1 in today’s Jack Scott Octathlon of Champions event — beach volleyball — a senior-dominated squad stormed back to win, 3-2. The final game ended 25-18.

The seniors also had Graham Gudis on their squad. He picked up 14 points for the win and comeback, vaulting him past Noah Schwaeber into the overall Octo lead (70 points to 65).

The winning squad included Nate Argosh, Ethan Kobak, Andrew Osorio, Andrew Puchala, Denzel Robinson and sophomore Ziggy Hallgarten. Argosh also picked up 10 points for most aces; Osorio got 7 for best dig or save; Kobak earned 6 for most blocks, and Hallgarten got 2 for best communication.

The team that surrendered a 2-0 lead included Carl Amacker, John Fincher, Ben Foster, Kenji Goto, Max Hammer and Brenden Price. Amacker’s “best spike” snagged him 8 points.

Puchala organized the competition. Next month’s event is soccer tennis, organized by Gudis.
