Staples Vs. Newtown (Scrimmage)

Newtown came to Loeffler Field today, for both teams’ 1st pre-season scrimmage of 2012.

All 3 periods ended 0-0. The Wreckers were well organized defensively, with keepers Ryan Petersen and Bobby Jacowleff seeing little action.

Staples squandered several early scoring opportunities.

“We are where we want to be on August 29,” said head coach Dan Woog. “We’re not where we want to be on August 31 (next scrimmage vs. Wethersfield, 4 p.m. at Loeffler Field), and certainly not on September 11 (1st FCIAC game).

“Our fitness is pretty good, and our motivation is solid. We are a work in progress — and that’s the way it should be.”
