Staples vs. Wethersfield (scrimmage)

The Wreckers took a big step forward today, following Wednesday’s sub-par performance.  Staples looked more organized, more composed and more hungry against a very solid Wethersfield side — particularly after the Eagles tallied against the run of play in the waning seconds of the 1st 30-minute period.

Brendan Lesch scored a spectacular bicycle kick — off a monster Mike Scott throw — to energize his team and crowd in the 2nd period (click here for YouTube video).  Lesch then power-headed in a 2nd score, this one off Alex Tonsberg’s corner kick.

The 3rd period was scoreless.

“Are we where we want to be now?” asked head coach Dan Woog.  “No way.  But are we a bit closer?  I think so.”
