Support Jorge Acosta’s Soccer Gear Drive

The Westport Soccer Association is helping MKSE coach Jorge Acosta collect unwanted, used or outgrown soccer balls, uniforms, shoes, shin guards and socks for Colombian children — and Staples boys soccer is proud to pass along the word.

Jorge and his family have seen children in his native Colombia played barefoot, with shabby equipment — or none at all.  He and his wife Claudia collect and store donation, then ship it to Colombia — at their own expense — every January.

They follow the next month, to distribute the goods to families in need.

All WSA recreation and travel families are asked to assist this weekend — the 1st of the WSA season (September 10 and 11), by bringing equipment to Wakeman, Burr Farms, Long Lots and Coleytown fields.

Financial contributions are welcome too, to help offset shipping costs.
