Wreckers Drop Final Scrimmage To Brookfield

The Staples boys soccer team closed out their pre-season schedule with a 2-1 loss to a quick attacking, strong defending Brookfield field Friday night, at the Bobcats’ stadium.

Will Murray leveled the match for the Wreckers, off sharp passes from Noah Rossoni and Jonny Costello, after a Brookfield penalty kick. The game-winner came shortly thereafter, on a close-in shot.

The squad then left for their first-ever retreat, at a camp in Litchfield County. They return Sunday, to prepare for opening day (Wednesday, September 4, 4 p.m. vs. New Canaan at Wakeman turf). The junior varsity (4 p.m., Wakeman E) and freshmen (4 p.m., Saxe Middle School, New Canaan) are also in action that day.
