Wreckers Rolling In Pre-Season

Staples soccer has picked up right where they left off.

The defending state and FCIAC champions opened pre-season in strong form. Balanced scoring, crisp passing and tight defense overcame an early penalty kick deficit yesterday, as the Wreckers downed a strong Naugatuck side 3-1 at Wakeman Field. Five days earlier, they thrashed a young Brookfield squad 8-0, away.

Pre-season concludes Saturday, with a 10:30 a.m. match against Shelton on the Wakeman turf. The real work — the regular season — begins next Wednesday (September 9), at Ridgefield. Kickoff is 4 p.m.
