Returnees Return From 4 Days Of Rock Climbing, Other Adventures

The bonding trip for varsity returnees has become a great Staples soccer adventure.

This year’s 4-day trip featured:

  • A fantastic house in Brownfield, Maine, with amazing views of the White Mountains
  • A full day of rock climbing on a granite face in North Conway, New Hampshire — led by former head coach Jeff Lea
  • Cliff jumping, and (on another day) a mile-long swim to an island
  • A 3 1/2-mile training run
  • Paintball
  • 2 nights of outdoor grilling for dinner
  • Campfires, around 2 excellent fire pits
  • Mini-golf
  • Plus much more.

Alumni chaperones Greg Bachman ’07 and Andres Marmelo ’15 added life and fun to the great experience. The Wreckers now get ready for the STA pre-season camp, and tryouts on August 23.

  1. Jeff Lea says:

I really enjoyed meeting the guys on my home turf New Hampshire granite. My fellow EMS Climbing School Guides, Andy and Pat, each said more than once that the Staples Soccer group was the most fun group they’ve worked with this summer. As 2 of our full time guides, they have each worked 5 days per week since early June, so that is high praise. They noted the overall team spirit and mutual encouragement as particular high points. I was not surprised, as these have always been strengths of our program ( yes, I still say Our Program, and always will, as do most of our past contributors). I wish you all a very successful season, in our 60th year. I look forward to attending as many games as possible this fall.

So glad these young men had a terrific bonding experience while obtaining new skills. BRAVO!

  3. Dick Steele says:

You keep it going, Dan. Thanks from a fan.
