2015 Octathlon Begins With Badminton

If the Big 10 can have more than 10 teams, why can’t the Jack Scott Octathlon of Champions have more than 8 events?

It does.

The annual event — an 8-month competition for returning varsity and junior varsity players — kicks off this month with badminton.

It’s followed by basketball, dodgeball, ping pong, flag football, mini-golf, a 5K race, beach volleyball, poker and a scavenger hunt.

Each event is organized by a different returning senior. They choose what they want to do, where and when it will run, and how points will be allocated. The winner at the end receives a gift certificate.

“It’s a great way to encourage competition, leadership skills and team camaraderie,” said head coach Dan Woog.

Let the games begin!
