Guy Claveloux ’83 Inducted Into Union College Hall Of Fame

Guy Claveloux — a standout sweeper, and a member of Staples’ state championship teams of 1981 and ’82 — joined his Union College 1986 team, as they were inducted into his alma mater’s Hall of Fame.

The squad was cited as  a “team of distinction.”  Their 4-year record was 47-9-5, and they were credited with “the rebirth of the school’s men’s soccer program.”

Guy served as co-captain of the ’86 Dutchmen team.  He was a 3-year MVP at Union; a college All-American in 1986, and a 2-time All-New York State selection.

At Staples Guy co-captained the ’82 side.  He was All-State 2nd team (1982), and a 2-time All-FCIAC first team choice.

Guy — who is now managing director and leader of North American Marine Practice for Marsh, Inc. — has had 2 daughters play for Staples.

His favorite Wrecker moment remains teammate Rob Stone’s 40-yard shot with 7 minutes remaining in the 1982 state championship match.  The defender’s goal — the only 1 of his career — beat Ridgefield, 1-0.
