Kyle Martino ’99, Mark Noonan ’83 Mentioned In NY Times’ NBC Story

Yesterday’s New York Times story on NBC Sports’ strong success televising the Premier League includes the names of 2 Staples soccer alums.

Kyle Martino ’99 is cited as the only American in the studio (joining, among others, new Westport resident Rebecca Lowe), while Mark Noonan’ 83 gets the closing quote.

The former United States Soccer Federation and Major League Soccer executive — now founder and president of FocalSport, a sports marketing firm — noted that “NBC stepped into the Premier League at an appropriate moment, with a young, multicultural audience enamored with world sport.”

“I don’t even think it’s reached a tipping point,” he was quoted as saying. “NBC’s timing couldn’t be better.”
