Kyle Martino ’99, Mike Carey ’01 Take Anfield By Storm

Last weekend, NBC Sports took its Premier League team to England.

Three Westporters were among the crew: Kyle Martino ’99, the very popular color analyst (and former Gatorade National High School Player of the Year, MLS Rookie of the Year, and national team member); Mike Carey ’01, one of the network’s top researchers, and Rebecca Lowe, the Britain-born anchor who now lives in Westport and is a huge Staples soccer fan.

The broadcasters were on-site for Burnley v. Arsenal on Saturday, the great Manchester United v. Manchester City derby on Sunday, and Liverpool v. Newcastle on Monday. They had onsite — and on-pitch — studios, neither of which had ever been done before.

One highlight included Louis van Gaal wandering over during dinner for a little chat. Another was this photo:
