Kyle Martino Wins With Street FC App On “Shark Tank” [UPDATE]
UPDATE: He won! Congratulations, Kyle!
A familiar Staples face pops up on “Shark Tank” tonight (Wednesday, January 21). It airs at 10 p.m. on ABC-TV, and streams on Hulu.
Kyle Martino ’99 — the 1999 Gatorade High School Player of the Year, 2002 MLS Rookie of the Year, and US national team player — vies to win $250,000 for his app. Street FC connects players looking for pick-up soccer games, in cities around the country.
Martino will be shown in a photo with his brother (and former teammate/goalkeeper) Wes Martino ’97.
And though he describes his love for pick-up (unstructured) soccer on the show, Martino does not mention that it was honed while growing up in Westport — the town where he once again lives, and continues to root for Staples soccer in.
