Todd Coleman ’84, Wes Malowitz P’12 Play In Gillette Stadium

Former Staples and Bates College captain Todd Coleman ’84 and Westport Soccer Association president Wes Malowitz P’12 comprised 2/5 of a team that played in Foxboro’s Gillette Stadium Saturday.

The event — a preliminary before the New England Revolution’s 3-2 loss to Chivas USA — was a short-sided tournament benefiting America Scores’ New England chapter.  The organization — which supports grade school youth through after-school learning, service and community — is introducing soccer into its programs.

The tournament raised nearly $200,000 to support 1,500 students in the Boston area.

Joining Todd and Wes were WSA vice president Mike Byrne, who played soccer at Boston College; Westporter Rick Yu, who played at Harvard University, and Mike’s BC teammate, Keith Brown.

The local squad went 0-2-1, and lost their first playoff match 1-0 to what all agree was “a much younger team.”
