Austin Sholes ’19, Matthew Tanzer ’19 Battle On College Turf
Four years ago, Austin Sholes and Matthew Tanzer left academy soccer, and played their senior seasons as Staples High School Wreckers.
This past weekend, the former teammates and longtime best friends met again — as opponents.
Washington & Lee University — Sholes’ school — hosted Emory University. Bragging rights remain TBD: The teams drew, 2-2.
W&L also played Oglethorpe University, with Ian Farquhar — son of Rich Farquhar ’79. W&L won, 4-1.
