Chris Meinke ’04 Wins Longshore Golf Title; Nicky Hoberman ’07 Places 7th At CrossFit Games
Two Staples soccer alums are in the news — for other sports accomplishments.
Chris Meinke ’04 won his 1st-ever Longshore Men’s Golf Association championship last weekend. He’s won a number of LMGA events before, and done well in amateur and professional Metropolitan Golf Association and state events, but this was a significant accomplishment. The 2003 soccer captain took up golf only after graduating from high school.
His parents and wife Carolyn were there for what Meinke called the “greatest moment in my golf life.”
Meanwhile, Nicky Hoberman ’07’s CrossFit Milford team placed 7th overall at the nationally televised CrossFit Games. The 4-day event was held in Madison, Wisconsin. Hoberman — who works at CrossFit just over the Norwalk line — also serves as Staples’ reserves coach.
