0Sean Milligan ’05 Earns International Start In Scotland — Update
The former Staples and Dartmouth goalkeeper earned an international start for Greenock Morton FC, a Scottish Football League First Division club.
(UPDATE: Morton lost 3-1, but Milligan is enjoying his time with the club. The biggest differences at that level, he says, are physicality and speed of play. Click here to read more from the Dartmouth website.)
Currently on a trial with the team, Milligan was given the nod when the team’s starting keeper was injured. Milligan’s match — a friendly — came against Unirea Urziceni, 2008-09 Premier League of Romania Champions.
At Dartmouth, Milligan played on 2 Ivy championship and 3 NCAA tournament teams. He earned first team All-Ivy honors as a junior and senior, and NSCAA All-Northeast accolades both years. He graduated as Dartmouth’s all-time leader in career goals-against average (0.824), and tied for career shutouts record with 18. He set a school record with 9 shutouts in 2007.
