Wreckers At Emory Rock The College Game

Three former Staples soccer players are together again in the college ranks. For Emory University, that’s great news.

The Eagles opened their season yesterday against in their first game against Pomona-Pitzer College. Matt Engler got the only goal in the 1-0 victory, in the 75th minute, finishing from short range.

Matthew Tanzer was 1 of only 2 freshmen to start. He played nearly the entire match, and looked strong.

Josh  Berman sat out with an injury. He’s slated for the starting team too, and demonstrated excellent leadership from the sidelines.

Emory faces Claremont-Scripps tonight, in the finals of the Sonny Carter Invitational.

In addition, Austin Sholes made his college debut for Washington & Lee University. He helped the Generals to a 4-0 win over William Paterson University.
