Wreckers Watch US Shock Ghana At “Cup On The Cove”
The Staples varsity squad — plus the “futsal and fitness regulars” from the JV and freshman teams, coaches, and several friends of the program — enjoyed hamburgers, hot dogs and a surprising US soccer meal of Ghana.
The setting was tri-captain Patrick Beusse’s father’s house on Compo Cove. “The Cup on the Cove” — right on Old Mill Beach — was a perfect way to enjoy the Americans’ upset victory. One TV was inside; another was out on the deck — and the victory was savored by all.
