Josh Berman ’17’s Emory Team Makes D-III Elite 8

In his 1st year as an Emory University varsity player, Josh Berman ’17 went to the NCAA Division III quarterfinals.

The former Staples captain/#15 recipient was part of an Eagle squad that headed to Chicago for this weekend’s Round of 16 and Elite 8.

On Friday, Emory edged Mary Hardin-Baylor 2-1. Last night, the Eagles and host University of Chicago battled to a 1-1 draw, through 90 minutes of regulation and 2 10-minute sudden death periods. The match went to PKs — and the Maroons prevailed, 5-4. Chicago advances to the D-III national semifinals, in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Berman played in 8 games this year for Emory, as a defender. The Eagles finished the season with a fine 15-5-2 record.
