Mike Noonan ’79 Enters Seacoast United Hall Of Fame

Mike Noonan ’79 is one of the charter inductees into the Seacoast United Hall of Fame.

A star on Staples’ 1978 state championship squad, and then at Middlebury College, Noonan co-founded the club — now one of the strongest in New England — while serving as head coach at the nearby University of New Hampshire. Noonan also coached one of Seacoast’s 1st 2 teams.

UNH was his 2nd head coaching job. He arrived there from Wheaton College. Noonan then spent 15 years at Brown University, where he won 8 Ivy League championships. He is entering his 4th season as head coach at Clemson University, and has made the Tigers into a national powerhouse.

Dave Harrison P’91 — who taught Noonan as a social studies instructor, mentored him on a Washington, DC internship with US Representative Toby Moffett, and also served as Staples soccer’s longtime timekeeper — attended the Hall of Fame induction ceremony. He reports that his former student gave an inspiring, and very insightful, speech.

Congratulations, Noons!
